For a long time I had resisted converting my DVD and Blu-Ray disks into any other format because I didn’t want to lose any quality.  I had lived by this rule for a long time, and thankfully companies like QNAP and Thecus came to my storage rescue.  However, the day has come where the cost of storing all the extra garbage that comes along with these movies has opened my eyes to benefits conversions.  With that, I have began converting my movie collection to a format that allows me to lose all the excess fat, but keep my movie loss-less. Today I'll be taking a look at the Antec P180 Advanced Super Mid Tower case from the Performance One series. First we'll look at a list of features from Antec.

Features P180:

Unique upper and lower chamber structure, the power supply resides in a separate chamber to isolate heat from the system and lower system noise

Innovative three-layer side panel (aluminum, plastic, aluminum) dampens system generated noise, making this one of the quietest cases available

No Power supply included. To optimize performance of the P180 the choice of power supply is crucial. Antec recommends choosing from our SP-500 power supply or Phantom, Neo/NeoHE or TruePower 2.0 series.

Standard ATX (12" x 9.6")
Front mounted USB, IEEE 1394 (FireWire®, i.Link®) & Audio ports
Double hinge door design: allows the door to open up to 270º
Material: 0.8mm cold rolled steel for durability through the majority of chassis, 1.0mm cold rolled steel around the 4x HDD area.
Built-in washable air filter keeps harmful dust out of your case.
Built-in toolbox so you can carry small parts with your case. Look on the back of the upper chamber removable HDD cage.

The case comes very well packaged with plenty of sturdy Styrofoam, plastic wrap and even sheets of protective plastic stuck to the sides and front for added protection against scratching during packaging and transport. All of this and a sturdy double thickness corrugated cardboard box.

The case is brushed aluminum and black in color. The front door is notched to leave the front ports exposed. There are audio ports, 2 USB ports and 1 Firewire port. The front door also comes with a double hinge setup so the door can be folded flat against the side of the case. This is a nice feature if you like to leave the door open for easy access. The hinges are plastic, of course, like so many cases today.
