ASUSTOR Adds Sickbeard, Headphones, SABnzbd, CouchPotato and SubSonic

It is no secret that I liked the ASUSTOR AS-608T that we reviewed.  The NAS is a work of art; it looks great and performs well.  However, as someone that uses my NAS for bother personal and business needs, I have been looking for the 3rd party app development to kick it into high gear.  Well, my wish has been granted.

If you plan on purchasing, or are entertaining the idea of purchasing an ASUSTOR NAS, join their forums.  It is a small, but growing community of NAS enthusiasts.  It is also the place I discovered the list of 3rd party apps I have been hoping for.

The main ingredients I was missing, until now.

  • SickBeard
  • SABnzbd+
  • Headphones
  • CouchPotato
  • SubSonic

SickBeard

Sick Beard is a PVR for newsgroup users (with limited torrent support). It watches for new episodes of your favorite shows and when they are posted it downloads them, sorts and renames them, and optionally generates metadata for them. It currently supports NZBs.org, NZBMatrix, NZBs’R’Us, Newzbin, Womble’s Index, NZB.su, TVTorrents and EZRSS and retrieves show information from theTVDB.com and TVRage.com.

SABnzbd+

SABnzbd makes Usenet as simple and streamlined as possible by automating everything we can. All you have to do is add an .nzb. SABnzbd takes over from there, where it will be automatically downloaded, verified, repaired, extracted and filed away with zero human interaction.

CouchPotato

An automatic NZB and torrent downloader for movies, just fill in what you want to see and CouchPotato will add it to your “want to watch”-list. Every day it will search through multiple NZBs & Torrents sites, looking for the best possible match.

Headphones

Headphones is the SickBeard equivalent for Music.  If you have a thirst for music, Headphones will help you to figure out what albums and what songs you are missing from your favorite artists.  Beyond that, it will also help you to organize your music library.

SubSonic

Subsonic is a free, web-based media streamer, providing ubiquitous access to your music. Use it to share your music with friends, or to listen to your own music while at work. You can stream to multiple players simultaneously, for instance to one player in your kitchen and another in your living room.

Having these applications now available extends the functional use of our ASUSTOR AS-608T.  If you are a multimedia enthusiast, ASUSTOR can be a top contender on your wish list.  Their products look great, perform well, and with the addition of these 3rd party apps, give you what you have been missing.
