Play .MKV’s in Windows Media Center (WMC)

For a long time I had resisted converting my DVD and Blu-Ray disks into any other format because I didn’t want to lose any quality.  I had lived by this rule for a long time, and thankfully companies like QNAP and Thecus came to my storage rescue.  However, the day has come where the cost of storing all the extra garbage that comes along with these movies has opened my eyes to benefits conversions.  With that, I have began converting my movie collection to a format that allows me to lose all the excess fat, but keep my movie loss-less. I can better be classified as more of a PlayStation fan than an XBOX 360 fan, mainly because I don't like to pay to play.  However, there are still some things that makes the XBOX an integral part of my entertainment center.  Firstly, its application list and UI is more attractive and user friendly than that of the PlayStation 3.  The unfortunate part of the XBOX's strengths is that it requires Gold membership.  Well, thankfully, Microsoft has loosened its reigns and plans on giving the "rest" of us some candy.

The more I travel, the more I realize that my head was not designed for earphones.  I can't find a comfortable pair of earphones anywhere, and I will not relegate myself to wearing a bulky set of 1980's headphones.  I might as well strap a sub-woofer to my face, throw some parachute pants on, and bob my head up and down hoping to understand what I am listening to.  Arctic Sound thinks they can cure my bean head condition by introducing the E461-BM Earphones.

In my younger days, cough cough.. !NURSE!!, cough cough, I would game like there was no tomorrow.  There was no Microsoft Office, there was no Quickbooks, Open Office, or LANDesk.  There was Unreal Tournament, NFS, Quake, Battlefield, C.O.D. (not this website).  My desk was a war zone, my office was a LAN party, and my friends were my comrades fighting battles on my self hosted gaming server. (more...)

According to X3D Technologies the X3D System "unlocks the potential to add true, life-like 3-Dimentional experiences on your CRT PC screen." When I read that statement, I had to experience this for myself. I have always enjoyed playing PC games and with the ever-increasing sophistication of video cards, software, and AI; the games are becoming eerily realistic. What better way to increase my pleasure than to add the extraordinary effect of true 3D to my favorite games.

I am sure most of us have, at least tangentially, been aware of various vendors promising to enhance our viewing pleasure by the addition of a 3rd dimension to our gaming, movies, and images. We have undoubtedly also heard the horror stories of how the product failed miserably or caused unbearable headaches after only a few minutes of use. Those factors were the cause of apprehension and excitement for me when I decided to test the X3D System. I wanted to see if the ability to transform our mundane world into one bursting with life was feasible without forcing us to break out the aspirin. (more...)

First I would like to thank PCToyland for providing this unit to us for review/testing. Without the generous support of retailers like PCToyland, it would be exceedingly hard for review sites like COD to provide you with the quality articles you read today.

I have been a gamer for a long time and I've played on everything from a Commodore 64 to an Xbox. If I have learned one thing it is this, the keyboard is not the ultimate gaming accessory. Why do you think we use a game controller with the console systems instead of the keyboard? It's easier to use. I will be the first to admit that, having played for so long with a keyboard, I have become accustomed to its layout and function. I now have trouble adjusting to using the controllers on console systems like PS2. Along comes the Nostromo Speedpad n52, the big brother to the n50. As you can see, the most noticeable difference is the extra row of keys on the n52. (more...)

Can't find the right controller for all your PC gaming needs? Here is the answer to those woes. If you were ever a console gamer, you fell in love with the Playstation controllers (only because no one could ever pry one from your hands). The Axispad Colors is very similar to the controller we have become so comfortable with. (more...)
