For a long time I had resisted converting my DVD and Blu-Ray disks into any other format because I didn’t want to lose any quality. I had lived by this rule for a long time, and thankfully companies like QNAP and Thecus came to my storage rescue. However, the day has come where the cost of storing all the extra garbage that comes along with these movies has opened my eyes to benefits conversions. With that, I have began converting my movie collection to a format that allows me to lose all the excess fat, but keep my movie loss-less. Read More…
When you are on the go, sometimes having the multimedia connectivity you want isn't always available to you. When I travel, I like to bring my laptop with me wherever I go and there is nothing better than sitting in a hotel room late at night with my laptop hooked up to their TV watching the movies I bring with me. There has also been plenty of times when I tried to sync three different videos running to three different TV's for a presentation booth. Unfortunately, my work laptop does not have an HDMI port built-in, and I hate traveling with more than one laptop. Luckily, StarTech has a solution that they think can give me the ability to travel light and connect my work laptop to any to type of monitor/TV.
If our readers are anything like me, they like to keep their devices up to date with the latest firmware. Typically, this is either to fix some bugs that have been found or to introduce some new features to a product. With that said, it is also normal for a company to distribute a changelog which indicates either what changes have been made or what features have been added.
I have always thought about investing in a home security system, but most of the solutions I have been looking at are too expensive or too robust for my needs. I want a solution that allows me to monitor my home from anywhere and record video to an offsite location in case someone got the bug to take my stuff instead of buying their own. D-Link thinks they have a solution. Enter the DCS-1130 Wireless N Network Camera.
Introduction
While Olympus is well known for its quality line of film and digital cameras, less is known about their other products. One that I will be looking at today is the DM-20. It's billed mainly as a digital voice recorder, but triples it's functionality by incorporating a music player and USB data storage device into its duties. It's sleek, portable, versatile and comes equipped with enough accessories to justify the $299 SRP. The one location I was able to find it online, DM-20 (click here), listed it for $269. If you were to look for a voice recorder, MP3/WMA player and USB storage separately you can count on spending three times as much for similar quality devices. (more...)
