For a long time I had resisted converting my DVD and Blu-Ray disks into any other format because I didn’t want to lose any quality.  I had lived by this rule for a long time, and thankfully companies like QNAP and Thecus came to my storage rescue.  However, the day has come where the cost of storing all the extra garbage that comes along with these movies has opened my eyes to benefits conversions.  With that, I have began converting my movie collection to a format that allows me to lose all the excess fat, but keep my movie loss-less. If our readers are anything like me, they like to keep their devices up to date with the latest firmware.  Typically, this is either to fix some bugs that have been found or to introduce some new features to a product.  With that said, it is also normal for a company to distribute a changelog which indicates either what changes have been made or what features have been added.

Personally, I am sick and tired of the United States government meddling more and more in our lives.  The movie and music industry is using our elected officials like puppets (muppets) and we are sitting idly by and letting it happen.  Well, I signed the petition, and my voice will be heard next election.  G.R.I.P. - Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians.  If we really want to make changes, we have to get those that pander to big business out of office and let them know that we have the power to do it.  After all, they are there to represent us...

Facebook has introduced a new feature, called Instant Personalization, that aims to personalize your web experience.  The idea behind this is that Facebook's affiliate sites will have access to your profile information and use this to target you with things you are interested in.  The question is... how much information do you want people to have, and do you want them to know this by default?

In a blog post, by Jamie Odell, on Netflix.com yesterday, it was announced that Netflix was making some changes to its services; members would no longer be able to add DVD's to their queues on devices they can use to stream movies. The idea is born from another that the "Add to DVD Queue" option ties up valuable resources and would still be supported directly and only from the Netflix.com website. Read More...

Another debacle by an increasingly annoying company has made me late for work today.  It seems that Apple has neglected to fix a bug with its iOS operating system that ignores the Daylight Savings time changes in its alarm application.  Read More...

The current security craze is affecting more than our daily computing.  The implementation of various security measures has gone beyond standard security measures and has entered the obscene.  Where do we draw the line between taking precautions and stifling productivity.  IT concerns are valid, immeasurable, and undeniable... however, so is productivity. As our world becomes more digital and the number of "personal" interactions with other people declines, we rely more on email and texting than phone conversations.  There are a few drawbacks to this and I can bet that you have found yourself on one end or the other.  As our interactions move more to email, we have to realize that these interactions are done without understanding inflections in voice and tone. It is becoming more common to misunderstand emails based on this and our responses may be out of line, and possibly detrimental to our career or relationships. Read More...

I am not one to take jabs at companies... wait... WHO AM I KIDDING?!?!?!? I love jabbing companies! Well anyway, as I was saying... Lately companies have really been surprising me with some of their antics. My rants stretch back from AOL to Microsoft and today the latest crazy chicken on the chopping block is Apple, again. This time, they are refusing to sell you an iPad! Read More...

This is definitely a new one for me. If you frequent C.O.D. (everyone should!), you would know that the last two articles we posted here, Will KHOBE Be The End of Windows? and Are PC Users in The Dark?, were in some way, shape, or form referring to viruses or PC users lack of knowledge. I had never thought that one day this site would be listed as a security threat for doing so. I run Microsoft Security Essentials on all my machines as do most of my friends. Today, we were presented with an interesting piece of doo doo slung from a fan blade. Read More...

Having been in the technical ring for as long as I have, I have become increasingly aware that many people just don't have a clue. I hear all kinds of stupid things from why PC's break to how crappy they are, accompanied by a host of other reasons why PC's suck. Most of the times, people don't realize that they are the cause of many of their own problems. Read More...
