QNAP Launches New High Performance TS-x69L Series Turbo NAS for SOHO and Small Businesses

Taipei, Taiwan, September 05, 2012 – QNAP® Systems, Inc. today officially launched its latest business-class TS-x69L series Turbo NAS. The new TS-x69L series, available in 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8-drive versions, is powered by a high performance dual-core Intel®Atom™ processor, equipped with 1GB DDR3 RAM, which can be upgraded to 3GB optionally. With support for SATA 2.5″, 3.5″ HDD and SSD up to 4TB, and with dual USB 3.0 ports for high-speed backup, the TS-x69L NAS series is compatible with Microsoft Windows OS, Linux/UNIX, and the latest Mac OS X Mountain Lion, and provides the levels of performance and high-capacity storage required by SMB users.

The TS-x69L series is equipped with 512MB DOM (Disk on Module) with dual firmware image design for system downtime prevention. In the event of corrupted firmware caused by accidental power loss during system boot, the NAS will boot with the backup firmware and then automatically recover the failed one for continuous system uptime.

Featuring rich business applications and well-rounded hardware design, the TS-x69L series is designed to fulfill SMB users’ needs for comprehensive and reliable storage solutions to optimize virtualization environments. The iSCSI protocol provides a seamless IP-SAN solution for server virtualization with support for VMware® vSphere™, Citrix® XenServer™ and Microsoft® Hyper-V™. Being certified with VMware® Ready™ for ESXi 5, the TS-x69L series supports both vSphere 4 and vSphere 5. In addition, the TS-x69L series also supports Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN), which can be used to create different network segments for different devices to communicate with each other regardless of their physical location.

The new series also comes with dual Gigabit Ethernet ports. “The QNAP lab test statistics reveal that both writing and reading speeds in a Windows environment exceed 220 MB/sec in network trunking mode, providing excellent speed for storage and virtualization environments,” commented Jason Hsu, product manager of QNAP.

The TS-x69L series provides a cost-effective way to build private cloud storage with cross-platform file sharing and centralized storage for Windows®, Mac®, and Linux/UNIX users. By enabling Windows AD or LDAP directory services, IT administrators can retrieve user accounts from Windows AD or LDAP-based directory servers, and assign access rights on the Turbo NAS to reduce the time and effort spent in account setup for large-scale businesses. As for access rights control, the Windows ACL (Access Control List) feature offers sophisticated shared folder permission settings, which simplify IT management for businesses with a large number of users.

The flexible backup solutions include Real-time Remote Replication (RTRR) for real-time or scheduled data backup, cloud-based storage data backup to Amazon® S3, ElephantDrive® and Symform® ,and the support of third-party backup software such as Veeam® Backup & Replication and Acronis® True Image. Furthermore, with snapshot technology, IT administrators can use the LUN snapshot to back up contents in the LUN to various storage destinations. The free QNAP NetBak Replicator helps PC users to set real-time synchronization and schedule backup and auto-backup to the Turbo NAS in just a few clicks. In addition, the TS-x69L series supports Apple Time Machine backup. Mac OS X users can back up data to the Turbo NAS, restore the system, or retrieve files from a specific backup timestamp.

The TS-x69L series also supports the Surveillance Station Pro for advanced network surveillance, supporting more than 1,400 IP cameras with one free camera license. Additional camera licenses are available for purchase. Users can install up to 12 IP cameras on the TS-x69L series.

Successfully managing the rapid growth of digital information is necessary for business accessibility and continuity. Network Attached Storage (NAS) provides a centralized, secured solution to share and access data for small businesses. “These QNAP NAS solutions with Intel® Atom™ technologies at their core provide protection for critical business information”, said David Tuhy, General Manager, Intel® Storage Group.
