The actual configuration for Subsonic is done from the web application, meaning you can make changes from anywhere without having to remote into your server. Adding users, configuring music folders, changing themes and even setting your transcoding settings are done from here. If you are going to configure your settings while in a remote desktop session you can do so by accessing http://localhost:8080 or from your network by the url http://WHSSERVERNAME:8080.
The initial screen warns you that you Subsonic is not secured and recommends that you change the default password immediately. By default, the username AND password are both “admin”.
You can change the admin password by going to the “users” tab and check marking the box for password.
Configuring your Music location is as simple as clicking the Music Folder tab and populating the default field with D:\Shares\Music. Unfortunately, Subsonic doesn’t recognize UNC paths and requires local paths. Normally with WHS you would avoid this but since we are not writing data to the shares we can get away with the local paths without worrying.
If you have made it this far, you will be able to handle the rest on your own. Enjoy your streaming your media! If you have any questions, or need help; visit our forums:
