Cooler Master Musketeer

The Musketeer is accompanied, in its box, by a manual, temperature sensor, mini jack to mini jack cable, expansion slot device for monitoring, 3 pin Molex splitter, and a 4 pin to 3 pin Molex adapter. First, the manual, meh; it’s not great, but it gets the job done; being that there isn’t much to do when you decide to get this thing working I would still consider it adequate. Second, the temperature sensor cable has a very generous length and this is crucial for those of us with BIG boxes. I also love the fact that it’s not fixed to the unit, but it utilizes a 2 pin connection. With this, if I decide to re-arrange my box, I don’t have to remove my heatsink and sensor to move the device as I add new components. Third, the mini jack cable is used to monitor the VU readings from your soundcard. Again, a generous length makes it easy to use it when your soundcard and the provided adapter for sensing are not in close proximity to one another. Last both Molex adapters are lengthy and truly indispensable. There is nothing I hate more than having to buy extra components to get something working when I feel it should be included in the first place. This shows great consideration by Cooler Master to cover many different scenarios.

Now, if any of you know me, you would know that I love to take things apart. I was born with a screwdriver in one hand, and extra parts in the other. What is the first thing that I did upon receiving the Coolermaster? If you didn’t guess yet, this is your hint… I TOOK IT APART!!! I was expecting to find a complicated device with large heatsink’s inside to reduce heat from playing with voltage, a small terrain of city like transistors and such. Much to my dismay, I found very little. No city like roadmap of components, more like a suburb with 1 corner store where you buy all your groceries and the attendant, Jack, gives your kids free lollypops on Tuesdays.
