OCZ Vector SSD Review

OCZ has promised that the Vector would deliver some very impressive numbers, in part due to the Barefoot 3 controller and to the extra cache the drive comes packed with. Their claims of Sequential reads at 550 MB/s and Sequential writes at 530 MB/s were almost realized. Although I would like to fault OCZ and their marketing team for putting those types of numbers in front of us, the hard truth is that they don’t list anywhere on their results page the hardware that was used to obtain those scores. The vast majority of us may never see scores like that on our rigs. As the dust settles, the truth still remains…the OCZ Vector is a true speed demon!

When compared to the Crucial M4, the OCZ Vector just throws powerful results. If you are looking for a performance SSD or just have some cash to burn, you can’t go wrong here. To wrap things up… OCZ has impressed us with its speed, its looks, and even its name. Bottom line… would I buy one? Oh Yeah!

Samsung 840 EVO 250GB Review

We love speed... and after reviewing the Samsung 840 Pro, we were chomping at the bit to get the 840 EVO in the lab. Not only does the newer EVO model use newer 19nm 3-bit Triple-Level Cell vs that of 2-bit MLC found in the 840 Pro, but it also features a much more attractive price-point and an increased IOPS... on paper.
