ASUSTOR AS-608T Review

ASUSTOR has only been around since 2011 but it looks like they have paid attention to what people have been asking for.  ADM is extremely easy to use and makes the experience of setting up storage quick and painless.  Adding users and shares takes just minutes and the IOS-like web interface makes navigation simple.  Adding the ability to move applications to their own pages within the GUI or classify applications based on your preferences is a plus for folks like me.

Take a test drive of ASUSTOR ADM:

To keep things going, Dr. ASUSTOR will give you hints as to what is going on and the ability to schedule Bad Block Scans is a great addition.  Applications like the Activity Monitor are well designed and let you know how your NAS is performing.

As for performance, the AS-608T isn’t a barn burner but did performed well in some tests.  The NAS was able to hold its own in our Avatar test, scoring the highest in Copy To, but seemed to fall behind in other benchmarks.

When compared to other similar SOHO/SMB NAS on the market, the AS-608T delivers high-capacity storage at a price point that is lower than their competition without sacrificing quality.  The NAS is simply beautiful and well crafted. Each drive tray is well manufactured and easy to install/remove.  Having 8 bays to fill, dual gigabit Ethernet connectivity, iSCSI support, and a ton of features makes this NAS a good choice.

ASUSTOR AS5008T Review

ASUSTOR has become one of my go to manufacturers for NAS. They have made some great NAS at some very affordable prices. Naturally, as time goes on, components are less expensive for consumers and for manufacturers. This allows NAS makers to pack more power into their storage appliances without increasing costs. In some cases, we are finding more powerful NAS at lower costs. To compliment this decrease in costs, production ramps up, R&D ramps up, and product enhancements increase. Ok, the point of all that? ASUSTOR has released a new 8-bay NAS, gave it more power, slapped a new name on it, and... lowered the cost. Enter the AS5008T.
