HSPC Tech Station 14×8

Being a computer technician, I have worked on a ton of computers, in a ton of different shops. In every single one of these shops, someone comes up with some way to make a bench system for testing components, for repair, or testing systems before they get the final install into the case before a customer buys it. I have seen things from hacked up cases to “Big Glen” (a piece of plywood with computer parts screwed into it).

Ingenuity runs rampant in repair shops and a reviewer’s workshop. Most of us have been waiting for a company to develop something practical, affordable, and most of all DURABLE! Until now, most solutions were either too expensive or not durable enough for the retail environment. Enter the HSPC Tech Station. This is a bench made of “non-electrically conductive, scratch-resistant, high grade polymers”; it is tough, inexpensive, and practical; but will it be worth it?

If you are getting one of these shipped to you, don’t expect a fancy cardboard box with tons of graphics and flash that costs a ton of money to produce, instead you will get a simple white box with a descriptive sticker that probably shaves some cost of the top end to save us a little money. My favorite part about the packaging: “Hand Made in the USA!”

BitFenix Colussus Mini-ITX Review

I get very excited when I get a new case in the lab for review. I get even more excited when the case comes from BitFenix. BitFenix has been quietly making some of the best computer cases out there. Their signature SofTouch Surface Treatment is simply amazing. Having gained popularity with their Colossus case, BitFenix has decided to bring all that style and pizzazz to the Mini ITX platform, and dubbed it the Colossus Mini-ITX.
