Now, I am one of those guys that has a bunch of stuff lying around my office. This is the perfect opportunity to put something together and see what we can make of this bench. As you can imagine, putting a system on this bench is pretty easy. There are no surprises here. I tried to put as much stuff together on this thing to see if there were a point at which it would no longer be practical, and the only thing that I could surmise from this is that if you want to use this bench to build a computer with 6 hard drives, you will have to develop some sort of method to not only house those HDD’s but to cool them also. Don’t laugh!
There are a bunch of things that I loved about this station: it’s strong, it’s practical, it looks nice, and it’s just plain cool. However, there is one thing that did bother me, and it is the ATX control kit. The switch and lights are somewhat “robust” at the top, and fitting them together on the motherboard proved to be a little tricky. What I did to combat this was steal a control center from a P.O.S. gateway system I had lying around. The end result worked well for me.
Products like the Tech Station always excite me. We have been given a practical solution to a few issues we face daily in the computer industry. Weighing in at only $80.00, construction is sturdy, the product is pretty, and the cost is relatively inexpensive. If there were anything to complain about, it would only be the ATX control kit for me. I would like to see HSPC come up something like the solution I used, but make it mountable to the station. Other than that, this is a product that I will NEVER trade! So there is only one question that remains… Would I buy one? Yeah, but consider the larger 14×13 version first, as you will appreciate the extra room.
