Slipstreaming SP2

We now have to issue the command “WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe /integrate:c:XP-old”.

After initiating the command, a window will popup in windows that tells you it is extracting the files.

This will take a little while to complete, and your computer may become unresponsive, but rest assured, the process should complete without any errors. After the extraction is completed another window will pop up telling you that it is integrating the files to create your new CD.

The process is almost finished now. There are only a couple of things left to do to complete it. When it is completely finished, a dialogue box will show telling you that the process has completed. You can click “OK” and get ready to move on.

This is the only semi-tricky part. You now have to extract some information from your original XP CD to make it bootable. To do this, you must download and install a program called “ISOBuster” from this link: http://www.isobusterdownload.org/isobuster_all_lang.zip . After the installation of the program is completed and it opens, it will ask you to purchase, or use the free version. You can use the free version, but it is nice to support those who make great utilities by buying their products.

If you left your original XP CD in the drive ISOBuster will open with a screen that looks like that pictured below.

On the left side of the screen, expand all the trees and select “Bootable CD”. When you highlight this option the right side of the program will populate with some files. You want to select the file then ends with the extension “.img” It may vary depending on the XP installation CD you used.

Right click on the file and select Extract .

Save it when it asks you to do so, just make sure you know where you are saving it to because you will need it for the next step, burning your Slipstreamed XP SP2 installation CD.

The instructions for burning this will be given to you to work with Nero Burning Rom. If you require instructions for another burning package, please indicate so in our forums and someone will be glad to help out. You must note that some of these options may appear different in different versions of Nero, the requirements are there in most versions, but they may appear different or be located in different places.

To start, eject your Windows XP CD from your CD-Rom drive, open Nero, and insert a blank CD-R into the drive for use.

In Nero, select to burn a (CD-ROM) Boot, select image file and browse for the file you saved with ISOBuster. Select Expert Settings, under “Kind of Emulation” select “No Emulation”, and change number of loaded sectors to for. See picture below.
